Ely Cathedral

2019 marked the year when the long time choirmaster Fred Irvine stepped down. He had been the choirmaster for 28 years. The music sung at this choircamp was chosen from a repertoire of personal favourites of his. Three of these can be heard on the Ely Cathedral archive page.

One of these compositions Stanford’s ‘Justorium animie’ was sung in Ely’s Lady Chapel. This Lady chapel is the largest Lady chapel in England with a high domed ceiling giving it a unique acoustic. The reverberation provided by the Lady chapel can clearly be heard on the recording.
